Well, we're now beginning another week of this new way of life and of course the sudden change we've all been through can bring new levels of stress and a need to adapt. With this in mind, we thought we'd share with you some benefits of a couple of herbal infusions we personally find help us take a breath and relax.
The Relaxation of Rooibos
Rooibos is known to be an excellent source of antioxidants and has comparable amounts of polyphenols to those found in green tea. Also known as the 'Red Bush Tea', it contains a unique antioxidant called aspalathin and is reported to help boost the immune system, aiding in the relief of anxiety and stress as well as sleep. It is also free from caffeine, colourant, additives and preservatives so all in all, a pretty balanced herbal drink!
We personally love enjoying Rooibos on its own or with a slice of lemon (and cake on the side, of course!)
Feel Calm with Camomile
This herbal infusion is one of our favourites to have when things feel a little too much. The soft, light floral flavour is perfect to have in those quiet moments and with no caffeine, it really does help you unwind. There has been some research into the health benefits of Camomile with some suggesting its natural properties may help alleviate restfulness and feelings of anxiety as well as assisting some digestive disorders.
Camomile makes a great tasting drink on its own but if you’re looking for that extra comfort, we love adding some honey, getting a comfy spot and reading a good book!
